I have a nikon d80 with a nikkor 18-135. The lens seems slow to me. I just had it fixed. Ever since I had it it seemed slow compared to some canon lenses I have used particularly the canon 28-135. What would be a very fast all around nikkor lens for the d80. Or arent there any that are as fast as the canon lenses?

When you say “fast”, I’m assuming that you are referring to the f/stop range. Have you tried prime lenses yet? Unlike the d40/x and d60, I believe that the d80 has an internal focus motors, which means that you can enjoy AF on some primes that us d4o/x and d60 shooters can’t.
I have a 50mm f/1.8 prime and it is a WONDERFUL lens. It is very fast and works great in all situations. I haven’t taken it off since I bought it. Remember that prime lenses come in a variety of lengths, but I think that the prime nikkors are definitely some of the fastest.
Good luck!
