What is best lens for more closeup shots with a Nikon D80 DSLR camera?

Hi, I am looking to purchase a better lens for my Nikon D80 for close up nature photography. The lens I have now came with the kit (18-135 mm).

How close? For macro a used 55mm micro is great, for zoom the 70-300mm isn’t bad
