If the ad listing says "camera body" then no lens is included at the price point they are offering, and a lens of your choosing would have to be purchased separately.

I don't know where you have been looking, but B&H Photo is an excellent source, with an excellent reputation…and their web site is great for finding things!

I agree with doowop about B&H Photo. Any reputable dealer will sell the "full box" as it comes from Nikon, which would include a body, battery, charger, strap, software, cords, etc. Many less-than-honest dealers openthe box and take all of the normally included items out so they can offer the body at a lower price and then charge you double for each and every accessory.

Many of us trust and recommend B&H Photo. I have been using them for many years without a single problem. B&H Photo is available through a link at Yahoo! Shopping, http://www.bhphoto.com or at 1-800-622-4987. See also http://www.resellerratings.com/store/B_H_Photo_Video_Pro_Audio

ALWAYS check http://www.resellerratings.com/ before buying a camera on-line. There are some that got a ZERO score.

On Nikon's website (http://www.nikonusa.com/home.php ) they show complete cameras (body and lens) but underneath all but the D40 it says (body only). If you look at their tech specs, you will see what is included in the box with the camera body. That's what you should get when you buy your D80 new. If the dealership is selling you less than this, then go somewhere else.

If you're buying a package, that includes a lens. You will get two boxes, one with the camera body and one with the lens.

If you're unsure of the dealership, do an on-line search to see what other people have said about them.

If it's priced under $1000 and says camera body, then most likely it does not come with a lens. However if you do find one with a lens [probably around $1100 or $1200] it will come with the lens, battery, charger, neckstrap, user guides, cables, etc. That's if it's new in box from a licensed dealer [ex. best buy, circuit city]. The only other thing you'll need to buy separately before getting started is the memory card. Just be sure to read the specifications before you buy!
